What is the Difference Between JEE Main and Advanced?

The full form of JEE is Joint Entrance Examination. It is an entrance test to get admission for undergraduate courses of the engineering field including B.Tech, B.E., B.Arch, B.Plan in the leading government institutes including IITs, NITs, IIITs. To get admission in these courses and these colleges, students need to clear the JEE Main and JEE Advanced. What do you mean by main and advanced in JEE and what is the difference between these two terms?

This article helps you to understand the JEE Main Advanced Difference that you must know if you are an engineering aspirant.

Key-Points That Helps You to Know the Difference between JEE Main and Advanced

  • If you want to get admission in NITs, IITs, or any other central and state government engineering colleges, then you need to attempt JEE Main Exam.
  • JEE Advance is focusing on admission in IITs, IIST, RGIPT.
  • JEE’s Main exam frequent is 4 times a year
  • JEE advanced exam frequency is once in a year
  • Conducting body of JEE main is NTA or National Testing Agency.
  • Conducting body of JEE Advanced is the IIT JAB Examination body.
  • A candidate is allowed to appear three times (maximum) in the JEE Main exam
  • On the other hand, a candidate can be allowed to appear two times in JEE Advanced for a maximum of 2 years.
  • Exam duration of JEE Main is 3 hours
  • Exam duration of JEE Advanced is 6 Hours
  • Total number of questions in JEE Main are 90 and a candidate is required to answer 75 questions only
  • A Total number of questions and marks distribution in JEE Advanced exam is not the same all the time.
  • JEE Main Question Paper has a diversity of so many languages including English, Hindi, Gujarati, Assamese, Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.
  • As a matter of fact, JEE Advanced question paper is in two languages only such as Hindi and English.

Syllabus Contradictions in JEE Mains and Advanced

Now let’s talk about the Syllabus similar. Is the syllabus of JEE mains and advanced are the same or not? Firstly, the syllabus of both examinations is 99% the same but some topics in JEE main are not the part of JEE Advanced Syllabus. However, from 2023, some topics were part of the JEE Main syllabus but not JEE Advanced.

Topic of Math in JEE Main but Not in Advanced
