The focus of BDS:

The primary notion of the BDS Course is dental sciences and surgery’s introduction. Training in dental science is also included in this course. The duration of the BDS Course is also 5 years. On the other hand, the classroom training program is 4 years. 1 year period is the internship period after completing the BDS course. 

Dental Council of India (DCI): 

Bachelor of Dental Surgery course is regulated by the Dental Council of India or DCI. Major subjects of the course include Dental Histology, Oral Pathology, Oral Surgery, etc. Students who want to complete the BDS course are required to register with the Dental Council of India. 

BDS Course qualification or eligibility is a 10+2 Exam with at least 85% marks from a recognized board. NEET UG is a compulsory entrance test for students in India to pursue this course. No other medical entrance test is available for this course for students. It is a national-level entrance examination in India. 

There are around 300 dental colleges in India. The government quota starts in Dental and private colleges are 26,000. BDS Course fee starts from INR 1,00,000 yearly. 

BDS Course Internship:

During the BDS internship period, students will also get a monthly stipend. The monthly stipend for the BDS course is INR 15,000 to INR 40,000 approximately. After completing the BDS course, you can work as a lecturer, dentist, dental research scientist in a reputed hospital. The education sector is a great choice for the BDS graduate. Salary after BDS is between 4 Lakh to 10 Lakh per annum. 

BDS Admission Process to Know: 

• Admission in BDS course based on the national level entrance test NEET exam.
• This exam has been compulsory since 2016 and also compulsory for MBBS, BDS, and Ayush course admission.
• A candidate who wants to apply for the BDS entrance test must secure at least 50% marks in 10+2. 
• You must meet the eligibility criteria, if you want to apply for the NEET UG Counselling 
• 10+2 is compulsory for the students to get admission in BDS course
• Candidates must have subjects Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in 10+2.
