Founded in 2008, Yenepoya University is a private higher education institution located in the the rural setting of the medium-sized city of Mangalore (population range of 500,000-1,000,000 inhabitants), Karnataka. Officially accredited/recognized by the University Grants Commission, India, Yenepoya University is a coeducational higher education institution. Yenepoya University offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees in several areas of study. Yenepoya University also provides several academic and non-academic facilities and services to students including a library, as well as administrative services.

Yenepoya University, Mangalore was established in 2008 accreditated by NAAC, as a first private university in the district of Dakshin Kannada. The IAE sponsored the formation of a new trust, the Yenepoya University, which after due process of inspection by the University Grants Commission (UGC), was recognized by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India in 2008.  The main aim of the unveristy is to provide access to quality higher education, ensuring equity, to create a vibrant knowledge capital and to create inspiring leaders of tomorrow who can take this country to the forefront of the developed nations.

Th employment and placement cell has been formed to look after the training and placement activities of the students of Yenepoya University. The placement officer tries to have close liaison with renowned hospitals for placement of students. They further collect feedback from the companies coming for placement, arranges for the career guidance and placement of the students through campus interviews during their course of study as well as after their passing out.

Admission Notice for MBBS and BDS 2017 through NEET Scores

Yenepoya University MBBS/BDS Admission 2016 are being carried out to grant admission to eligible candidates in MBBS and BDS Courses offered at Yenepoya Medical College and Yenepoya Dental College. Both the colleges are situated in Daraklakatte, and Managlore

Admission will be taken on the basis of NEET 2016 Score and the students who appeared in NEET should apply by submitting the application form issued by the Yenepoya University after the declaration of NEET Result.

MBBS/BDS

Eligible candidates who have appeared in NEET and are seeking admission to MBBS/BDS Courses at Yenepoya University must apply for the same after the result declaration. The admission for Under-Graduate Medical (MBBS) and Dental (BDS) courses will be done as per the guidelines of Hon. Supreme Court of India. Accordingly, the University will allot the seats on inter-se-merit basis.

Seat Available

Total seats available for seats sanctioned for admissions:

  1. a) 150 for MBBS
  2. b) 100 for BDS

The admissions will be carried out as per the following norms:

(i) 15% of the seats will be filled from NRI candidates

(ii) 85% of the seats will be filled only from the NEET merit list in the following manner:

(a) 40% are reserved for Muslim candidates from Karnataka & Karnataka origin candidates

(b) 25% are reserved for Muslim candidates from the rest of India

(c) 35% are reserved for candidates from the all India general merit category (Includes candidates selected through Karnataka CET)

If the required number of eligible candidates are not available in any of the categories mentioned above, the unfilled seats will be filled in the subsequent quota in the order of vacancies and finally from the All India General Merit list

 

Eligibility Criteria for MBBS/BDS Courses:

The eligibility criteria given below is as per the YU UGET. Additionally, the candidates should qualified NEET 2016

Candidates must have passed in second PUC or 10+2 or equivalent examination recognized by State/Central Government, with Physics, Chemistry and Biology with English subject

Candidates must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks in PUB. The candidates who are appearing for the prescribed qualifying examination and expecting the results are also eligible to apply

The candidate should have completed seventeen years of age as on 31st December of the academic year of admission

Centre for Ethics, Yenepoya University

Yenepoya University has a Centre for Ethics that conducts structured academic programs in bioethics such as Postgraduate Diploma in Bioethics & Medical Ethics (PGDBEME), Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Ethics (PGDCE), Choice-based course in Environmental Ethics and Intensive Summer Workshop in Ethics and Research (I-SWEAR) for training of ethics committee members and researchers. The Centre also hosts the Yenepoya University Ethics Committee that is recognised by the DCGI. Yenepoya Medical College

The M.B.B.S. (Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery) course is of 4.5 years plus 1 one year mandatory internship as per set standards of the MCI for India.The courses are mainly oriented for earning a degree. Courses offered for MS/MD (PG Medical Courses)

Yenepoya Dental College

The B.D.S. (Bachelor of Dental Surgery) course runs for four years, followed by a one-year internship. The examination and award of degree are regulated as per standards of Indian Dental Council.

The Pre-Clinical departments are housed in the Academic block . State-of-the-art dental clinics covering all dental specialties with more than 300 dental chairs are attached to the college. The Yenepoya Dental College is headed by Dr B H Sripathi Rao (former Executive Member, Dental Council of India (DCI) New Delhi).

Post-graduate courses

MDS (Master of Dental Surgery) courses are normal three years. The examination and award of degree are regulated by Yenepoya University.

A separate museum for Anatomy Part of all departments, Pathology, Microbiology, Pharmacology and Forensic Medicine are housed in the respective departments, with collection of wet and dry specimens, embryology models and exhibits.

• Seven Lecture Halls with seating capacity of above 100 each • Audio Visual Teaching facilities with LCD projection systems . Conference halls with a seating capacity of 400 • Examination hall with a capacity to accommodate 500 students at a time • Demonstration Rooms and Service Rooms ( shared by dental, nursing) in every Department

Environment management system

• Rain Water Harvesting system has been developed with a capacity of about 10 million Ltrs as a secondary source of water for the Campus. • Sewage Treatment Plant is installed for recycling of sewage water • Incinerators are provided within the Campus for the easy disposal of waste thus providing a tidy and hygienic campus.• World Planting Day’ held at campus • Multi culture plantation is provided to make the campus green. • Solar system of water heating is provided for hot water facility for the students
