Overview

The University of Patanjali (UOP) is named after the great Indian sage- Patanjali (circa 900 B.C.) who first compiled the numerous writings on Yoga in the form of precise and concise aphorisms; was established through the Act of State legislature Act No.04/2006 published in Gazette of Uttranchal Government on 5.4.2006 and recognized by UGC vide Order No.170/XXIV\2007 dated 15.2.2007. The University is sponsored by Patanjali Yogpeeth (PYP) and is located at Haridwar in North India.

Education is a fruit of human civilization. It helps to enrich and update faculties of human brain. It is the integrated approach of wisdom and knowledge that helps a learner to be self-reliant, self developed and socially empathetic. However, in the present scenario, existing education system emphasizes on knowledge and skills for earning and personality development only rather than awakening latent powers and social care. Most of the educated ones are using their learned behaviors for selfish deeds and focusing the way of western personality development being far from the spirit of social care and inner awakening. The existing education system looks disabled for creating social and ecological harmony. At this moment of global disharmony, Rev. Yoga Rishi- Swami Ramdev and Ayurved Shiromani- Acharya Balkrishna, have stood up as propounders of fusion of knowledge and wisdom to fulfill the absolute objectives of education by establishing University of Patanjali (UOP).

UOP is a manifestation of divine vision of His Holiness Swami Ramdev and Honorable Acharya Balkrishna to establish An Integral Center of Education Excellence blending all spectrums of oriental wisdom and scientific knowledge. The university aims at innovating teaching-learning and research to produce professionally competent, personally elevated and socially empathetic alumni. Asceticism, health care, integral education and entrepreneurship are its four major domains of teaching-learning.

  • To instigate teaching-learning, training, research and development on scientific and philosophical aspects of Vedic knowledge.

  • To standardize and promote indigenous education system in synergy with modern technology.
  • To give space for teaching of both spiritual and physical aspects of Vedic knowledge with special focus to Yoga and Ayurveda.
  • To impart teaching-learning and research on Humanities, Value Based Management, Value Based Journalism; Natural & Applied Sciences; Social Sciences and allied knowledge spectrums as required.
  • To produce doctors/healers well versed in modern medical and indigenous treatment system.

UOP’s Objectives

The objective behind the inauguration of this institution has been to impart education on theoretical and practical aspects of Yoga and Spirituality; Natural, Applied and Social Sciences; Oriental Medical Systems; value based Management and Journalism; Social Sciences and allied studies among the youth to propagate, promote, and contemporize cultural, medicinal and Vedic heritages of India worldwide irrespective of gender, cast, creed and regions. The other main objective was to offer job oriented courses to the youngsters through different disciplines and programs. The UOP is intended to-

  1.  Establish scientific basis for the knowledge cum wisdom propounded by Indian sages by undertaking researches through scientific method;
  2. Impart job oriented education and awake the youths to preserve knowledge on Ayurveda, patriotism, and yogic life style;
  3. Establish affiliated colleges and institutions to empower teaching-learning and scientific researches on diverse spectrums of traditional knowledge- Yoga, Ayurveda,Veda and Vedang etc. through various programs in the line of UOP’s objectives which may be sponsored by University Grants Commission; and
  4. Establish constituent centre for continuing education and passing instructions through distance learning mode regarding the courses offered by the constituent colleges/institutions.

This unit of UOP is committed to-

  • Optimal Placement of alumni in educational and health institutes of India and abroad.
  • Immediate appointment of Yogacharyas (Yoga teachers) and Vaidyas (Ayurvedic doctors) in existing Treatment Centers of Patanjali by extending facilities of Panchakarma and Yoga Therapy.
  • Training and aid to alumni for entrepreneurship development and empowering health of common people.

Duration: Three Years (Six Semesters)

Admission Criteria: The candidate must have passed 10+2 Examination from a recognized Board with at least 45% marks. The Admission will be done on the basis of Merit, Aptitude Test and Interview.

Admission Criteria : The candidate must have passed Bachelor Degree in Ayurveda Medical Science with at least 60% marks from a

recognized University. The Admission will be done on the basis of Merit, Aptitude Test and Interview.

Age Limit: 35 Years as on 31st July, 2016.

Fee : The Annual Tuition fee will be Rs. 50,000/- and its 50% will be payable in each Semester at a time.

 

Post Graduate Diploma in Yoga Science (Minimum 10 Students)

Duration: One Year (Two Semesters)

Admission Criteria: The candidate must have passed Bachelor Degree (10+2+3) with atleast 45% marks from a recognized

PhD

M.Phil/Ph. D Application Announcement under Department of Yoga Science

The applications for M. Phil/Ph. D Programmes under Department of Yoga Science of University of Patanjali (UOP) are invited from eligible candidates w. e. f. January 1 to 31st January 2017. The completed application form can be submitted offline/online by accessing here under UOP website. The details regarding the application can be seen in the information uploaded therein.

 

PhD Result

Admission Procedure

1.      The eligible candidate as explained in the Prospectus of Academic Session 2016–17 has to submit the completed Application Form with attested academic certificates/documents.

2.      After having the admit card, the candidate is to appear in Aptitude Test (APT) that will consist of objective questions from five major domains– General English, General Mathematics, General Knowledge, Subject Chosen and Knowledge of Patanjali Yog Peeth System each carrying equal marks. The Prospectus, Application Form and Sample APT can be downloaded from the UOP website.

3.      The shortlisted candidates in the APT will be interviewed for final selection followed by medical checkup. The candidate declared unfit medically shall be rejected for admission.

4.      The  APTs for admissions in offered programs in academic session 2016-17 shall be conducted from 2-16 August 2016 at 10:00- 11:30 am as per scheduled dates in the Prospectus.

5.      The APTs for B.A with Yoga Science and B.Sc in Yoga shall be conducted on 2 August, 2016 as per timing mentioned above.

6.      The interview for all programs shall be conducted immediately after APT/s, i.e from 12 noon to 5 pm.

Admission Criteria

The Minimum Marks for reserved candidates will be 40% of the aggregate marks while it will be 55% for PG Diploma in Panchkarma.

General Information

  1. Filling up of 6% of seats over and above the authorised seats in each course will be the discretion of the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor.
  2. There will be an Internal Examination (both in Theory and Practical) in each semester and during the examination, no candidate will be given leave except on compassionate grounds.
  3. 75% attendance is essential to sit in the examinations.
  4. Dress Code: Every student has to follow the dress code strictly as decided by the University.
  5. Hostel: The Students will be provided the possible facility of a Hostel where meals will be available and the students will abide by the Hostel Rules. The Hostel Charges will be as under:

  7. Sports Fee:Rs. 1000/- (Rupees One Thousand Only) at the time of first admission

All payments will be made by Bank Draft/online transaction payable to the University of Patanjali, at Haridwar.

     How to get Form and Prospectus for Admission?

Application form and prospectus can be received by depositing a Bank Draft of Rs. 100/- payable to “University of Patanjali, Haridwar” (Demand by post Rs. 50/- extra as postal charges) or downloaded from the UOP Website. Last date for receiving prospectus and completed application form is 31st July, 2016. Send a self-addressed envelope of 11″ x 9″ and 10″x4.5″ with draft and academic documents if you want to submit offline. The candidate can also submit the completed application form online in prescribed format by paying Rs.150 till 31st July, 2016 in favor of UOP. Campus overview

At present, its office is situated at Patanjali Yogpeeth. It is situated at 18 km south to Haridwar and 12 km north to Roorkee on Delhi-Haridwar National highway. The University is easily assessable through Roorkee and Haridwar Railway Stations. The nearest Airport is situated at Dehradun.

National Integration

Male/Female students from India & abroad are studying at present in the university. All the students get due care and guidance irrespective of their caste creed, language, state, sect, etc., in accordance with the noble sentiment of “vasudhaiva kutumbakam”(the whole world is our family). Humanitarian qualities like mutual co-operation, harmony, etiquette, etc. are developed in students.

Celebration of Festivals

Festivals and days of social and national importance like Holi, Deepawali, Makar Sankranti, Rakshabandhan, Independence Day, Republic Day, etc. are celebrated on the university campus with a lot of jubilation.
