Established in 1986, University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the the urban setting of the large town of Dharwad (population range of 50,000-249,999 inhabitants), Karnataka. Officially accredited/recognized by the University Grants Commission, India, University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad (UASD) is a coeducational higher education institution. University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad (UASD) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. International applicants are eligible to apply for enrollment. UASD also provides several academic and non-academic facilities and services to students including a library, as well as administrative services.
University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad (UASD) is a state agriculture university established by the Government of Karnataka which imparts education, research and extension activities in the fields of agriculture, forestry, food science, agri marketing and home science. The university was started on 1 October 1986.
History and Genesis
The University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad was established on October 1, 1986.
The University has 5 Colleges, 30 Research Stations, 6 Extension Education Units, 5 Krishi Vigyan Kendras and ATIC. The University has its jurisdiction over 7 districts namely Bagalkot, Belgaum, Bijapur, Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri, and Uttar Kannada in northern Karnataka. Greater diversity exists in soil types, climate, topography cropping and farming situations. The jurisdiction includes dry-farming to heavy rainfall and irrigated area. Important crops of the region include sorghum, cotton, rice, pulses, chilli, sugarcane, groundnut, sunflower, wheat, safflower etc. The region is also known for many horticultural crops.

It is on Dharwad-Belgaum road (P.B-4) on a campus with space for growing trees and fields for conducting experiments and research. The university has constituent colleges at places of Karnataka state:
