Overview
Established in 1985, Sri Ramachandra University is a non-profit private higher education institution located in the the urban setting of the metropolis of Chennai (population range of over 5,000,000 inhabitants), Tamil Nadu. Officially accredited/recognized by the University Grants Commission, India, Sri Ramachandra University (SRU) is a small (enrollment range: 4,000-4,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. Sri Ramachandra University (SRU) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. This 32 years old H.E. institution has a selective admission policy based on entrance examinations and students’ past academic record and grades. The admission rate range is 70-80% making this Indian higher education organization a somewhat selective institution. International applicants are eligible to apply for enrollment. SRU also provides several academic and non-academic facilities and services to students including a library, housing, sport facilities and/or activities, financial aids and/or scholarships, study abroad and exchange programs, as well as administrative services
Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute (SRMC & RI), now named Sri Ramachandra University (SRU), is a deemed university declared under Section 3 of the UGC at 1956, in Porur, Chennai, India. SRU consists of eight constituent colleges with over 45 departments offering about 92 courses in health care and medical studies and research with more than 3500 students.
SRU was founded by Sri Ramachandra Education & Health Trust on September 11, 1985 by Shri NPV Ramaswamy Udayar (1936–1998). It was founded as a medical college, and became a university in September 1994.
In 1997, SRU entered into a relationship with Partners Harvard Medical International to pursue curriculum reform, faculty development, and improvements in health care quality and patient safety in the school’s affiliated medical centre. One of the results of this collaboration was the achievement of accreditation by Joint Commission International in 2009, the first teaching hospital in India to obtain such accreditation from JCI. The university has been accredited by NAAC with A Grade with a CGPA of 3.62 on a 4-point scale, the highest to be awarded to a medical university in India. Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre is the associated teaching hospital for the school

Eligibility
Passed the 10 + 2 examinations under CBSE/ ISC/ State Board syllabus with Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany & Zoology) and with English as one of the subjects. Or an examination recognized as equivalent thereto.
In respect of students from the US, they must possess high school diploma awarded by an accredited school (12 years schooling) with the subjects Physics, Chemistry and Biology in addition to English. A grade point average of 3 (on a scale of 1 to 4) or a B- average in these core subjects is preferred.
Wherever alphabetical grades like A, B-, C+ are used by the school, appropriate equivalence in terms of percentage like 90%, 75% and 60% should be made available.
Applicants from Cambridge University must have Three Passes in GCE ‘Advanced’ level (‘A’ levels) in Physics, Chemistry and Biology and Pass in AS Level in English Course 8693 in Class 12 in examinations.
Only students from high schools accredited by the respective State or the country will be eligible for admission and a certificate to this effect must be produced from the competent authority.

ICC Test Centre
The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced that Cricket Australia’s National Cricket Centre in Brisbane and the Sri Ramachandra University in Chennai have been accredited as testing centres for suspected illegal bowling actions.
The two centres join Cardiff Metropolitan University as testing facilities for players reported in international cricket under the ICC Regulations for the Review of Bowlers reported with Suspected Illegal Bowling Actions.
