Founded in 1983, Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam (Sri Padmavati University) is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the the suburban setting of the small city of Tirupati (population range of 250,000-499,999 inhabitants), Andhra Pradesh. Officially accredited/recognized by the University Grants Commission, India, Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam (SPMVV) is a women only higher education institution. Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam (SPMVV) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees in several areas of study. International students are welcome to apply for enrollment. SPMVV also provides several academic and non-academic facilities and services to students including a library, housing, sport facilities and/or activities, online courses and distance learning opportunities, as well as administrative services.

About SPMVV

Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam (University for Women)was founded in the year 1983 by Sri N.T.Rama Rao, the then Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, with the fervent desire to train women students as better builders of the Nation and to inculcate skills of leadership in all aspects of life.The University was established under the Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam Act of 1983,which has come into force on the 14 of April 1983.It was started with ten faculties and 300 students and twenty staff members. Today the University has a student population nearly 4000 and an academic staff of 105 and 131 academic consultants. This year the University has 59 courses at the post-graduate and undergraduate level and a good component of research. The campus of Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam is spread out in a lush green area of 138.43 acres. The University is situated at a distance of 3 km from the railway and bus stations of Tirupati.The campus has the necessary buildings to run its academic programmes and administrative machinery. There are separate buildings for Humanities and Sciences, University Administration, Central Library, University Auditorium, Sericulture Complex, and School of Pharmaceutical Sciences and also an independent building for Computer Science, Business Management and Engineering College.

Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam (University for Women) established in the year 1983 and accredited with four stars status by NAAC has given unparalleled service to Womens Education in Andhra Pradesh, drawing on the great cultural traditions of the Country as well as keeping in tune with changing times, channels of employability and assuring quality education in teaching as well as research. DEPARTMENT OF APPLIED MATHEMATICS

           The department offers a two-year M.Sc., Applied Mathematics course. The course content contains foundation courses and the applied subjects which provide the students analytical skills and application Techniques. The inclusion of Computer programming and its applications in the course enables the students to be more precise. Students can persue careers in Mathematics and also find other employment opportunities.

M.Sc. Applied Mathematics

Eligibility : B.A. / B.Sc. Degree with Mathematics as one of the optional subjects, with 50% in Mathematics. Candidates who have studied Mathematics as an ancillary subject are not eligible.

DEPARTMENT OF APPLIED MICROBIOLOGY

           Applied Microbiology Course is designed to equip the student with the latest professional know-how and technical skills in all specialized branches of Microbiology. The department well equipped laboratories with necessary infrastructure. The course emphasizes the methods to exploit the microorganism for human welfare and the maintenance of environmenrtal quality.
On completion of the course the students can pursue higher learning in Research Laboratories/ Institutions in India/Abroad,Teaching in Colleges/ Universities,Self-employment opportunities to setup clinical and analytical Laboratories.Biotechnological & Pharmaceutical, Food and other industries.

DEPARTMENT OF BIOTECHNOLOGY

           Biotechnology is a multidisciplinary branch of Modern Biology, related to all practical/commercial/controlled use of biological agents such as, microorganisms or cellular components, for beneficial use. It encompasses the rapidly developing fields like Molecular Biology, Genetic Engineering, DNA Finger Printing, Monoclonal Antibody Technology, Tissue Culture, Fermentation Technology etc.
As an interdisciplinary science, Biotechnology finds its application to Chemical, Pharmaceutical and Textile Industries and to Agriculture and Animal Husbandry.
Hence the course of M.Sc. Biotechnology is one of the most challenging and demanding courses of the day, with plenty of employment opportunities in National and International industries of Science and Technology.

The Course offers (CBCS System) theory and practicals in all the major areas of Biotechnology comprising, Microbiology, Cell Biology, Biomolecules, Molecular Genetics, Enzymology, Molecular Biology, Immunotechnology, Biophysical & Biochemical Techniques, Genetic Engineering, Microbial Technology, Plant Biotechology, Animal Biotechnology, Biostatistics & Bioinformatics, Environmental Biotechnology and Emerging Technologies in Biology as an external elective.
It is mandatory for all the students to carry out project work in a chosen institute and /or industry as a part of the curriculum in the final year.
The course aims at giving maximum practical work experience in different fields of Biotechnology. Industrial visits, project work, seminars, special lectures by experts from industries, research centers and educational institutions ensures the necessary exposure to the students with respect to the new trends in the field.
Strength of The Course: The M.Sc.(2Y) General Biotechnology programme is recognized by the Department of Biotechnology,Govt. of India, New Delhi. 15 students in each batch are selected on merit basis will be provided with DBT-studentship (Rs. 3000/- per month) who will also obtain fund (Rs. 50,000/-) to carry out Inhouse project work during the course. The students after completing the course will be eligible to undergo DBT funded BCIL- Industrial Training Programme and also to write the entrance test for DBT-Junior Research Fellowship which will ensure admission in any recognized institution in the country for Ph.D programme.

M.Sc (5Y) Integrated Biotechnology

DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER SCIENCE

           The field of Computer Science has excellent employment potential in the present explosion of technological development. The Department is offering 3 years Master of Computer Applications (MCA) programme with Choice Based Credit System in semester pattern. The Department is also offering M.Phil. &Ph.D. Research programmes on Full-time time and Part-time basis. The Department is providing training in all branches of Computer Science to meet the requirements of industry needs. The Department of Computer Science has an e-class room, a Computer lab with high configured systems connected through LAN facility and latest Software.
In MCA V semester, Mini project is introduced to train the students in project development. In MCA VI semester, the students are deputed to external organizations for Major project work to get the exposure of the industrial needs and to enhance the project development skills. Campus interviews are conducted by many reputed organizations like TCS, Infosis, Mahindra, Wipro etc. to provide the job opportunities for the students.

           The School of Engineering & Technology (SoET), SPMVV, Tirupati has been established on Self financed/ Self funding basis with the approval of the Government of Andhra Pradesh vide GOMS NO: 91 dated 11-07-2006 and also by AICTE through its letter No. S. No. AICTE/E & T/ AP/2009-10/12 dt: 11-06-2009. The School of Engineering & Technology (SoET) is committed to raise the intellectuals to tune the young women students in understanding and incorporating the basis of rapidly progressing changes in the field of Engineering & Technology, with an objective of enhancing their competence by applying their proficiency and skill for Industrial, Economics & Social development.
The course curriculum and training will enable the students to identify, scientifically to evaluate and implement effective solutions to critical scientific and technological problems in this digital era. The SoET shows its strength by empowering women in engineering and related disciplines. Currently, SoET offers B. Tech in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE), Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE) and Mechanical Engineering (ME) with an approved intake of 120 students, 120 students, 60 students and 60 students respectively. Undergraduate courses:

The women candidates, who have qualified in 10+ 2 years of formal education or its equivalent examination recognized by Association of Indian Universities (AIU) are eligible for admission into relevant Under Graduate/ Bachelor’s Degree programme offered by SPMVV on or off campus.

The international students are exempted from all forms of Entrance Tests for getting admission into various courses.

Postgraduate courses:

International women students who have obtained their Bachelor’s degree in any country in the concerned or allied subject(s) or its equivalent recognized by Association of Indian Universitiesare eligible for admission into the Post Graduate Courses directly with/ without a common Entrance Test conducted either by State or University in Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam.

The international students are exempted from all forms of Entrance Tests for getting admission into various courses.

MPhil/ Ph.D. programmes:

The women candidates should have passed Masters Degree examination in the concerned subject (with 50 percent marks for Social Sciences and Humanities and 55 percent marks for Sciences or obtained equivalent Grades) or its equivalent recognized by Association of Indian Universities.

Only those students who have qualified from foreign Universities or Boards of Higher Education, recognized as equivalent by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) are eligible for admission. When required, reference will be made to AIU to check the equivalence.

Certificate/ Diploma programmes:

The University has designed/ proposes to design Certificate (3 months) and Diploma (6 months) courses to suit the needs of Foreign and Non Resident Indians in the fields of Music, Yoga, Meditation, Spirituality, Food and Nutrition, Family Studies, Child Development, Social Work, Telugu, Mathematics, Education etc. Eligibility for these courses is 10 years of formal school education and English proficiency.

A single window system is provided and facilitated by Dean, International Relations for admission of International women students into various courses.
