The Act mandates the University to focus on teaching and research in the field of Police, Social Sciences, Criminal Justice, Public Safety and Security and other related areas. This will be a unique initiative in the above mentioned field as this University will be a blending ground for academia, practitioners and industry. We offer our students knowledge and insights relevant for their professional goals, opportunities and environment. To create an academic centre for excellence dedicated to the study,research and extension activities in the realm of Policing,Security and Criminal Justice where professionals,academicians and young citizens work together to achieve understanding,knowledge and skills required to attain the highest ideals of public service and democratic citizenship. .

To provide an interdisciplinary academic environment for learning and research through programs that include perspectives for Social Sciences,Humanities,Science & Technology and professional studies whereby students and professionals equip themselves with intellectual,professional and moral competencies for combating the emerging challenges to security ,justice and public safety in a free,democratic and diverse society.

M.Tech. in Cyber Security

Duration: 2 year

Cyberspace touches nearly every part of our daily lives. It’s the broadband networks beneath us and the wireless signals around us, the local networks in our schools and hospitals and businesses, and the massive grids that power our nation. It’s the classified military and intelligence networks that keep us safe, and the World Wide Web that has made us more interconnected than at any time in human history. We must secure our cyberspace to ensure that we can continue to grow the nation’s economy and protect our way of life. (Barack Obama, President, United States) The above Statement reinforces the need of trained technical professionals in Cyber Security. To address this need of trained professionals the University has designed a Masters level Course in Cyber Security. This course aims at developing talent in the hitherto unexplored area of Cyber Security.

Cyber security is an emerging area in the field of Computer Science & Engineering. M.Tech in Cyber Security is aimed at producing the much needed highly skilled manpower in the area of Information Security. It offers many areas for specialization including: securing network(s) and allied infrastructure, securing applications, security testing, information testing, information systems auditing, penetration testing, forensic investigation and digital forensics science etc. Keeping all the facts in view this program is designed to create professionals trained in both cyber forensics and cyber security with best of technical talent.

M.A./M.Sc. in Applied Criminology

Intake Capacity : 30
Duration: 2 year

The Department of Criminology and Police Studies provides postgraduate academic and professionally oriented programmes for aspiring students and practitioners in the field of Criminal Justice. This course is an excellent blend of theoretical and applied criminology as it allows the students to apply their knowledge in criminology in various professions or fields like police services, security management and human rights which are contemporary and emerging fields which have a bright future. The department will offer students a wonderful opportunity to acquire experience by interaction with actual practitioners of this field which will help in the practical application of their growing criminological skills and expertise.

The curriculum of the course is built on a foundation of applied criminology and police studies. The course allows for maximum flexibility to meet the needs of the students and their respective areas of interest. In this approach, the courses will be individualized to meet the student’s professional goals in keeping with the overall objectives of the programs and practical aspects of the field in terms of employment. The course comprises two years of full time study comprising of 4 semesters.

LL.M/M.A. in Criminal Law

Intake Capacity : 20 Seats (10 seats in each LL.M. + M.A.)
Duration: 2 year

The Criminal Justice System (CJS) is to ensure a just, peaceful and safe society, functions in a framework of the criminal law. The efficacy of the CJS depends a great deal on sound understanding and application of the criminal law by all those who are working in its sub-system namely advocates, Police, Prosecutors, Judges, prison officials as well as researchers in this field. Therein lies the importance of LL.M/M.A. program both for in-service personnel as well as those who are aspired to make career in C.J.S. and allied organizations.

Sardar Patel University of Police, Security and Criminal Justice is a unique initiative to foster the creation of new knowledge in the domains of Criminal Law, Criminal justice, Public safety, Securityand related areas as well as to provide a forum for engagement between field practitioners and researchers for generating new knowledge and innovations. The Act of the University mandates it to encourage and prepare the youth of the nation to become responsible citizens, effective and efficient personnel in the above mentioned fields.

In the light of this the LLM/MA (Criminal Laws) offers a unique and distinct opportunity tstudy criminal law in National, International and Transnational context. This programme provides a holistic analysis of the Criminal law, Procedure and Criminal justice through an analysis of the law, its philosophical underpinnings and its operation in practice in constantly changing environment. This course offers the opportunity for broader or deeply specializedstudy with innovative research. The innovative focus and unique areas of study, allow individual to develop ability to critically appraise the current approaches and contemporary issues relating to contemporary crimes and the Criminal law.
