Lord Lakulish, whose name the proposed University bears, is the twenty-eighth incarnation of Lord Shiva. This incarnation occurred at Kayavarohan nearly 4500 years ago. Thus, Kayavarohan is an ancient Puranic . Kayavarohan is referred to in the Puranas as Shiv Tirth because of its being the place of incarnation of Lord Shiva. Great ancient sages like Vishvamitra, Bhrigu and Atri also lent sacredness to the place by performing Yogic penance in the area.

In 1955 Swami Kripalvanandji visited the Kayavarohan village and had darshan of the linga superimposed a divine figure that was none other than his Divine Guru Lord Lakulish”

It fell to Swami Kripalvanandji and Swami Rajarshi Muniji to build a new ‘Yoga Mandir’ there and reactivate the ancient Tirth once more. That task was completed in 1974. Later, in 1976, Swami Kripalvanandji also inaugurated the Lakulish Yoga Vidyalaya which has since continued to provide yoga education with unbroken regularity and consistency. The Kayavarohan Tirth Seva Samaj was constituted by Swami Kripalvanandji as a Trust to look after the Tirth. It that way, this Trust too is associated with the monastic wing of Kripalvanandji’s spiritual lineage and the Vidyalay continues to be a seat of yoga teaching and training ever since. iv) Life Mission Regional Center Vadodara

Life Mission was established in 1993 and registered as a Public Trust in 1996. It was founded with the clear intention of engaging in some activities for the public good and therefore needed to have a base of its own distinct from the monastic wing which inspired and sponsored the Trust. Accordingly, in the same year, premises were acquired in Baroda which in due course were fully paid for by the newly created Trust over a period of time. These premises served as the temporary headquarters of Life Mission. In the same year, a Life Mission Regional Office was also opened there as an administrative entity distinct from the Mission itself. Eventually, Life Mission administration moved to its present location at Rajrajeshwardham, Jakhan. The original premises are still retained as a property of Life Mission and houses certain of its facilities including Printing Press, publications warehouse and retail counter, yoga teaching and training center, kitchen, dining, etc. It is a fully functional center and continues to offer weekly yoga classes on a regular basis. This center will continue to serve as an off-campus center of the proposed University. Infrastructure available here consists of the following (Please refer layout plans provided):
