History
The Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India ( ICFAI ) was established in 1984, as a not-for-profit educational society in Telangana , India. The institution has been offering education to students across India through its variDehradunous programs in the field of higher education. The institution was founded by N.J. Yasaswy , Besant C. Raj and Dr. Prasanna Chandra, the Director of Centre for Financial Management. The institute has a national presence with the sponsoring and establishment of eleven universities across India. Ten of these eleven universities have been established in the states of Uttarakhand, Tripura, Jharkhand, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Meghalaya, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh through acts passed by the legislative assemblies of the respective states. The eleventh university, namely the Icfai Foundation for Higher Education (IFHE), has been declared as a deemed-to-be University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956.[1] A few more university applications are at an advanced stage of processing
by the respective state governments.
Campus infrastructure
The IUD campus is situated at Selaqui, in Dehradun. It has 2,565,000 square feet (238,300 m2) of built-up area with academic blocks, workshops, laboratories, faculty rooms, auditorium, seminar halls, computer labs, library and other student facilities. The campus is capable of accommodating up to 3,000 students.
Rankings
The Faculty of Science and Technology (IcfaiTech, Dehradun) was ranked 81 and 83 in the Dataquest India’s Top Engineering Colleges 2011 and 2012 respectively and 4th in India (Ahead several IITs and NITs) in terms of Industry Interface. It was ranked No. 44 and 38 in the limited CSR-GHRDC’s Engineering Colleges Survey of 2012 and 2013 respectively gaining position in Top 15 Engineering Colleges in North India and in Top 25 Private Engineering Colleges in 2013 survey. In rankings of private institutes it was ranked 14 by the Electronics For You magazine’s Top 50 Private Engineering Colleges.On the more specific ranking by SiliconIndia in 2012, it was ranked 18th in Engineering Colleges for Computer Science Engineering, 21st in Engineering Colleges for Mechanical Engineering and 20th in Engineering Colleges for Electronics and Communication in India. It was also ranked 4th overall in North India Engineering Colleges. FST Dehradun has also been consistently ranked in the Top 80 since 2010 by CollegeKhabar Rankings- India’s most preferred colleges, based on votings done by student on select colleges. The Faculty of Law (ICFAI Law School, Dehradun) was ranked #19 in India Today Best Law colleges of 2011 and 2012. It is ranked 22nd by India Today in 2013. It was also ranked 33rd and 29th in India by The Week Magazine in 2012 and 2013 respectively.
The Faculty of Management Studies was ranked 66 in the CSR-GHRDC’s B-School Survey of 2011.

The Faculty of Law is a constituent part of the University. It offers 5 years LL.B (Hons.), 3 years LL.B (Hons.) and 2 years LL.M.
Faculty of Science and Technology (Icfai Tech School)
Faculty of Science and Technology (IcfaiTech, Dehradun), a constituent of the ICFAI University, Dehradun (IUD), commenced operations in 2004. It offers Ph.D, M.Tech. and B.Tech. programs. Its flagship B.Tech. program is offered in the following disciplines:

- Electronics & Communications Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering.
It conducts a highly selective Admission Test for IcfaiTech (ATIT), in online and written format, for admissions to its B. Tech. program.The eligibility to enter IcfaiTech Dehradun campus is to have a minimum of 60% in 10+2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English as mandatory subjects. It is consistently ranked among top 5 Engineering institutes of India for its Industry Interface by Dataquest and among top private engineering colleges of India by different magazines/ websites.

Faculty of Management (IBS Business School, Dehradun), a constituent of the ICFAI University, Dehradun (IUD), commenced operations in 2004. It offers MBA Program.The program is well known for its Case- Based Learning.

Collaborations
The Faculty of Science & Technology, IUD has many foreign collaborations. The recent one is its collaboration with University of Westminster, University of Dundee. Also, the institute is a member of Association of Commonwealth Universities, London; Association of Indian Universities, India; University of South Australia, Saint Petersburg University, Russia. Faculty of Law, IUD has a global network with LAWASIA, WIPO, COL, Bangor University, UK and European Case Clearing House in UK and United States, ICFAI Dehradun being one of the top 5 contributors to the European Case Clearing House.In 2014, ICFAI Dehradun has been ranked 7th among top 10 emerging engineering colleges in North India by Silicon India and 1st among top engineering colleges in Uttarakhand by CSR-GHRDC.
