Overview

Founded in 1995, EIILM University is a private higher education institution located in the the rural setting of the medium-sized town of Jorethang (population range of 10,000-49,999 inhabitants), Sikkim. Officially accredited/recognized by the University Grants Commission, India, EIILM University (EIILM) is a coeducational higher education institution. EIILM University (EIILM) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees in several areas of study. EIILM also provides several academic and non-academic facilities and services to students including a library, as well as administrative services

Eastern Institute for Integrated Learning in Management (EIILM) University, located in Jorethang, Sikkim, is the first university in India, honored by the ISO 9001:14001 certification. The university is one of its kinds, which initiated higher education in India, based on international standards. The Eastern Institute for Integrated Learning in Management (EIILM), Kolkata, looks after the working of EIILM University. European Quality Certification of University Education has certified EIILM University for disseminating quality education. EIILM University was set up with the objective to recognize the potential of students and help them fulfill their ambitions.

EIILM University offers scholarships to underprivileged and woman candidates. These scholarships encourage young women aspiring to advance their careers through EIILM University education, either through regular programs or through the Distance Education Mode. The university has decided to sponsor the cost of education and living of orphan girl students for study at the campus in Sikkim. The university offers education to girl students, who are referred by different NGOs.

Educational streams

EIILM University offers various courses, which include B.Tech in Biotechnology, Electronics & Communication, and Information & Technology. Also it offers education in environment & ecology at bachelors and masters level. MBA with Specialization in HR / Finance / Marketing/ IT / IB / Retail Management / Operations Management / Supply – Chain Management / Hospital Management are also offered by the university. M Sc in biotechnology and Environment & Ecology and Bachelors in Journalism and Mass Communication is also offered through its different departments. EIILM University also offers various courses through distance education programme.

Facilities

EIILM provides facility of well equipped computer laboratory with broadband connection. The facility of library, containing wide collection of Books, Journals and CD of Academic materials, is provided to the students, to enhance their knowledge. The biotechnology laboratory, equipped with latest instruments and safety equipment, is also provided to the students. The university plans to provide the facility of e-teaching, hostel accommodation and student loan, in the near future.

History
Eastern Institute for Integrated Learning in Management University was established in 2006, under Sikkim State Legislature ACT No. 4, 2006, by the Government of Sikkim. The university was recognized and approved by University Grants Commission (UGC), in May 2008.
