Established in 2014, BML Munjal University is a private higher education institution located in the the rural setting of the medium-sized city of Gurgaon (population range of 500,000-1,000,000 inhabitants), Haryana. Officially accredited/recognized by the University Grants Commission, India, BML Munjal University is a coeducational higher education institution. BML Munjal University offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees in several areas of study. BML Munjal University also provides several academic and non-academic facilities and services to students including as well as administrative services.
BML Munjal University (BMU) is a not-for-profit initiative offering undergraduate and post-graduate courses in management (MBA & BBA) and undergraduate courses in engineering (BTech) and commerce (BCom (Hons)). The University was founded by the promoters of the Hero Group, and is named after the group’s chairman and founder Brij Mohan Lall Munjal.
The 50-acre, fully residential and co-educational university has been notified under the Haryana State Private Universities Act, 2006. The university is being launched in two phases. The School of Engineering & Technology, School of Management and School of Commerce will be established in phase I, beginning August 2014. In phase II, four additional schools are proposed: School of Liberal Arts, School of Art, Architecture & Design, School of Natural Sciences and School of Law.
International Academic Alliances
Imperial College London is playing a mentoring role in the formation and operation of the School of Management and School of Commerce, and will also be the academic mentor for the School of Engineering & Technology. 25 BMU engineering students will have the opportunity to undertake a one-year MSc programme at Imperial College London Business School. Additionally, all students (BTech, BCom (Hons), BBA & MBA) will have the opportunity to join innovation camps and credit-based courses, which will include activities such as lectures, site visits, workshops, or say, writing a business plan.
Institute of Inclusive Innovation
BMU and Imperial College London are the joint founders of the Institute of Inclusive Innovation, an applied research institute. Located on the BMU campus Students will get an opportunity to work on live projects in the institute’s areas of focus that includes health, energy, water, education, urban development and economic empowerment, thereby getting invaluable experience in understanding and tackling critical social problems of the day.
Centres of Excellence
Industry partners will also be establishing Centres of Excellence on campus. The first such centre is being set up by Siemens PLM Software, to serve as a hub for technical skill development programmes in Haryana.
