Mandate
The mandate of Bihar Agricultural University, Sabour would include the following objectives:
To impart education in different disciplines of agriculture and its allied disciplines.
To undertake strategic and applied research for development of agricultural technology.
To under take extension education programme in the State of Bihar, by planning and organising different programmes of human resource capability in agriculture and related domains.
To help State Government in production and supply of breeder seeds for multiplication of foundation and certified seeds.
To serve as a repository of national and international scientific information on various aspects of agricultural and animal production.
To collaborate with relevant national and international agencies for all round development of agriculture in the State, in particular and the country as a whole; and also to undertake such other activities, as it may deem fit, from time-to- time.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Undergraduate programme:
Candidates for admission to different Bachelor’s Degree Programme of this University shall be selected through Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination conducted each year by the Govt. of Bihar for 85% of the seat. For 15% of the seat, selection would be made by All India Entrance Examination conducted by ICAR.
Postgraduate programme:
Admission in Master’s Degree programme is made through a Competitive Test conducted by the University by calculating the marks of Entrance-cum-academic performance in the following manner.

Details of Undergraduate Courses at Bihar Agricultural University
Eligibility for Admission
Both sexes (male and female) shall be eligible for all Bachelor’s Degree Programmes. The candidates must be a permanent resident of the State of Bihar or domicile of the Bihar State. As many as 85% of the total seats in a particular degree programme shall be filled up through Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination or University Entrance, however, rest 15% of the seats shall be filled up by the candidates selected through All India Competitive Test conducted by ICAR/ VCI, New Delhi.
Maximum/Minimum Age Limit
The candidates must have completed 17 years ofage on first of July and must not have completed 22 years of age on the said date of academic year in which the admission is sought.For B.V.Sc. & A.H. degree programme the minimum age limit is 17 years on or before December 31 of the ensuing year.
Minimum eligibility qualification for admission in various Under-Graduate
Degree Programmes
The minimum eligibility qualification required for admission in B. Sc. (Agriculture)/ B.Sc. (Horticulture) shall be Intermediate in Science i.e. (10+2) or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics combination. Students having passed I. Sc. examination with Physics, Chemistry and Agriculture shall not be eligible for admission in any of the under-graduate degree programmes of the university.
Minimum qualification required for admission in B. V. Sc. & A.H. degree programme shall be Intermediate in Science i.e. 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology combination.Minimum qualification required for admission in B. Tech. (Dairy Technology) degree programme shall be Intermediate in Science i.e., 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics combination.
Time of Admission
Admission to each degree programme except for sponsored/ICAR candidates shall be made in the first Semester of the ensuing year only.

Duration of Degree Programmes.
The duration of various degree programmes shall be as follow:
- B. Sc. (Ag.) Degree shall be of eight semesters which will consist of six semesters for course work and one semester for “Rural Agricultural Work Experience (RAWE)” programme and one semester for “Experiential Learning” programme.
- B. Sc. (Hort.) Degree shall be of eight (08) semesters which will consist of six semesters for course work and two semesters for “Experiential Learning” and “Rural Horticulture Work Experience (RHWE)” programme.
- B.V. Sc& A. H. Degree shall be of ten (10) semesters which will consist of nine semesters for course work and one semester (10th) equivalent to six months for “Internship Programme”.
- B.Tech. (Dairy Technology) Degree shall be of nine (09) semesters which will consist of seven (07) semesters for course work and one semester each for “Experiential Learning” as well as “In- Plant Training.”
- Four additional semesters shall be permissible for each Bachelor degree programme in addition to normal duration being provided for completing a particular degree programme, if a student fails to complete the programme even in these additional four semesters, he/she shall cease to be the student of this university and shall not be permitted to continue his/her studies further in this university. The additional four semesters shall be counted from the date of his/her first admission in the from the first semester of the programme.
