What Are Qualifying Marks in NEET?

You can’t correlate NEET cutoff marks with qualifying marks. Both are different concepts. A student must reach the qualifying score level to participate in the NEET UG Counselling. On the other hand, qualifying marks are 50% for the general category. That means you need to score 360 out of 720 to reach the level of qualifying marks.

The percentile of qualifying marks in NEET is 50%. Percentile and percentage both are different. A candidate must score at least above 50% to increase the chances of admission for MBBS in India or the BDS course.

However, if you score in NEET UG exam according to the cutoff of NTA NEET, then it is quite easy for you to get admission to medical college. The minimum qualifying percentile is not enough to get admission. Thus, a candidate must cross the path of NEET Cutoff to become eligible for the NEET UG counselling. That means you will finally land on your MBBS seat if your marks are above than cutoff. The cutoff of NEET is also changing every year.

National Testing Agency is the main body that decides everything related to the pre-exam of NEET. From total marks to qualifying marks for UG medical entrance test, everything depends on the notice by NTA.
