In a nature-rich atmosphere, Nazareth Hospital, Mokama, inaugurates a ‘Wellness Center’ a first in Bihar on April 20, 2016. The chief guest, Most Rev. William D’Souza, SJ, the Archbishop of Patna, in the inaugural address quoted the Bible verse, “Come to me, all of you who are tired from carrying the heavy loads, and I will give you rest.” Mt.11: 28. This new centre offers a hope and a scope for wellness and wholeness for persons who are stressed and overburdened in this fast moving world, he reiterated.

Special guest of honor, Dr. Bhavna Shekhar, an author and a poet, a senior faculty member of Notre Dame, Patna cut the ribbon and officially opened the Centre. Dr. Shekhar commented on the efforts of the administration and the staff of the hospital for starting this adventurous project to help persons to be tuned into nature for total healing and wellbeing. She also emphasized that it is the need of the time.

The Naturopathy specialist, Dr. Mandal Sarju explained the importance of getting back to the nature to rejuvenate oneself to good health. He compared the human system with that of a new vehicle. As the new vehicle is serviced after a certain mileage, we humans also need to get back into nature to be in harmony with our whole system.

Sister Basanti Lakra, Provincial of the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth who manages the Nazareth hospital shared that hospital moved into this new venture to meet the need of the time in providing alternative therapies which is wholesome for a healthy way of life.

This most modern well-equipped center provides yoga, aromatic herbal massages, hydrotherapy, mud therapy, diet counseling, washouts/enema, Shirodhara, spine and joint pain care at an affordable cost.

Duration and charges of the treatment are decided after consultation with the physician and depends on the nature of ailments. General ward, private room/private room with AC accommodation facilities are available as per individual requirements. A package for the relax-holiday program is also made available. This program is intended to improve general health. One week program meant for executives, professionals and tourists which includes dieting, yoga, meditation, massage, steam bath, sunbath, mud bath, etc. Arrangements for sightseeing trips will be made available on request.

The Archbishop also congratulated the hospital management for opening its doors as an extension center of the Gaighat, Patna for empowerment and imparting skill training for the young girls at the ‘After Care Home’. Thus the hospital has been a leader and a pioneer in responding to the emerging needs of the society.
