Historical of National Testing Agency (NTA):
1). Let’s start a discussion on NTA and the basic roots of the National Testing Agency that came from the 1992 action. What happened at that time? During this time, the National Policy of Education 1986 was launched and this policy defines the requirement of national level common entrance test for professional and non-professional courses of study.
2). After that, in 2010 a new report was submitted to the Ministry of Human Resources Development by a committee (a team of IIT directors). According to this report, they recommended the formation of the National Testing Agency under the act of Parliament.
3). Primary reason for the report and recommendation of NTA is ensuring transparency and independence in various entrance exams. As we know, India is the country, where had already seen cases of fraud and less transparency in the medical course’s examination. To stop these things, the recommendation of NTA had been taken place by the committee to the Government of India.
4). In 2013, MHRD formed a seven-member task force to prepare a draft for this recommendation and ideas for making live the concept of the National Testing Agency in India.
5). In the same year, the decision of forming NTA was taken successfully by the government, and in 2017 Finance Minister justify the creation of NTA in his budget speech. Now, it’s time for the cabinet approval to form this agency.
7). As per the information of 7 July 2018, HRD Minister also announced in a press conference that NTA will be responsible for conducting Join Entrance Examination-Main (JEE Main) and the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test-Undergraduate NEET-UG (https://sarvjanakari.com/neet-ug/).
