Score Reported for GRE® Subject Tests

All Subject Tests yield a total score on a scale of 200-990 score, in 10 point increments even though the score reported for any subject test is normally not that high.

Apart from the total score, sub-scores are reported separately for Biochemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology; Biology; and Psychology Tests on a 20 – 99 score scale, in 1 point increments, although the range is usually smaller for any Subject Test Sub-score.

Candidates can simply follow the steps mentioned below to view or download their GRE Score. Candidates can keep the printout or softcopy of the GRE Score for their personal reference only. The GRE Scores would be directly sent to the designated recipients by ETS for record and verification.

  • Candidates would receive a notification on their registered email id from ETS intimating that scores are available in their ETS Account and also that the official score reports are being forwarded to their designated score recipients.
  • Candidates can check their ETS account by visiting the official site of ETS to view and take a printout of their score for their personal record.
  • For computer delivered GRE® General Test, candidates can view the unofficial score of Verbal Reasoning and Quantitative Reasoning sections at the test center though the score of analytical writing can’t be viewed because of the scoring limitation of this section.

Ordering Additional GRE Score Reports

Candidates can put a request for additional score reports in 3 ways. The Additional Score Reports (ASRs) can be ordered through online, mail or fax. The ASRs can be ordered online through official site of ETS. The ASR can be ordered through mail or fax with the help of GRE® Additional Score Report Request Form.

In case scores for the GRE Test have been reported, scores would be forwarded within 5–10 business days after receiving the request from the candidate. In case scores for the GRE Test have not been reported, candidates’ scores would be reported on or after the published score reporting date.

Candidates can decide/select to send scores from Most Recent, All, or Any specific test administration of the General Test and/or Subject Tests that they have appeared for. However, they cannot change, cancel or get refund for ordering an ASR. If they want to change their mailing address or change their name, candidates should contact the GRE Services for their assistance.

GRE ScoreSelect® Option

One of the most distinct advantages of taking GRE is that candidates can actually decide the scores which they want to send to the institutes. This unique feature of GRE allows candidates to send only the best GRE scores to the institutes and cancel out any average or mediocre performance in GRE. The validity of GRE scores is 5 years so candidates can decide the GRE scores within these 5 years which they want the schools to see.

The ScoreSelect® Option are available for both GRE® General Tests and GRE® Subjects Tests and can be used by eligible candidates up to 5 years.

On the day of appearing for the test, candidates can choose not to send their score at that point of time or else they can they can choose from the other two available options for the 4 free reports:

  1. Most Recent: Send the score from the current test administration
  2. All: Send score from all the GRE General Test taken by the candidate in the last 5 years.

NOTE: For candidates appearing in GRE General or Subject Test in Paper Delivered Mode, the option of sending any particular score or not sending score must be exercised prior to the conduct of the exam.
