IISER Admission 2018: Application Form, Eligibility, Entrance Exam,Exam Pattern

IISER Admission will be based on an IISER 2018 entrance exam, KVPY exam ((Kishor Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana) & JEE Advanced exam. IISER (Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research) is one of the famous Institution of India which offers education in the field of science & research. In India, there are seven IISER Institutions located in Pune, Bhopal, Kolkata, Mohali, Thiruvananthapuram, Tirupati & Berhampur.  Eligibility Criteria

KVPY Stream:

  • Indian National, PIO & OCI candidates are eligible to apply.
  • Candidates have a valid KVPY scholarship commencing from 2018-2019 session.

SCB Streams:

  • Indian National, PIO & OCI candidates are eligible to apply.
  • Passed 10+2 or intermediate examination with science stream in 2017 or 2018.
  • Candidates have to secure marks equal or above the cut-off percentage in their respective boards.
  • The cut-off percentage marks is 55% in 10+2 level for all boards for SC/ST/KM category candidates.
  • There is 5% relaxation in qualifying marks for the OBC-NC & PwD category.

JEE Advanced Stream:

  • Indian National, PIO & OCI candidates are eligible to apply.
  • Must qualify the JEE Advanced exam & secure a rank within 10000 in CRL (Common Rank List).
  • Their category rank will be considered, for OBC-NC/SC/ST/PwD category.

IISER Application Form 2018

Candidates, those want to get admission to the IISER Institutions have to fill the IISER Online application via SCB (State & Central Boards) streams, KVPY Stream & JEE (Advanced) Stream.

  • Candidates will get the IISER Online Application form from the 4th week of May 2018.
  • The application form will be issued through online mode only.
  • Candidates can fill the IISER 2018 Application Form till the 4th week of June 2018 (SCB), 2nd week of June 2018 (KVPY) & 1st week of July 2018 (JEE Advanced) Streams.
  • At the time of form filling, candidates have to upload their scanned photograph & mark sheet/rank card (as applicable) in a given format.
  • It is necessary to fill the Institution choice out of all 7 IISER for admission according to the preferences in the application.
  • Keep the print copy of the filled application form for future use.

Application Fee

  • Candidates have to deposit Rs. 1500 as an application fee.
  • 750 in case of SC/ST category & Kashmiri Migrants
  • Candidates can pay the fee through online or offline mode.
  • The fee is non-refundable.

Exam Pattern

  • The questions will be multiple choice types.
  • KVPY Aptitude Test will be conducted through offline mode (pen-paper based).
  • 15 questions will be asked from each subject.
  • The duration of the exam will be 3 hours (10:00 AM to 1:00 PM).
  • The question paper will be comprised of PCMB subjects (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics & Biology).
  • The question paper will be of 180 marks.
  • 3 marks will be given to the candidates for each correct response.
  • For incorrect answer, one mark will be deducted.

Admit Card

  • The admit card of IISER 2018 will be issued from the Last week of June 2018 for a SCB channel through online mode.
  • Without an admit card, candidates will not be allowed to enter in the exam center.
  • No other mode will be entertained to get the IISER 2018 Admit card.
  • Candidates have to bring a valid admit card.
  • Candidates also have to bring the filled application form, print copy in the examination hall.

Result

  • Candidates can check their results of IISER 2018 from the 2nd week of July 2018 for SCB channel through online mode by entering their roll no. & registration id.
  • Candidates can register for allotment of seats, after the result declaration.
  • The seat will be allotted on the basis of merit secured in the exam.

Admission

  • On the basis of JEE Advanced & KVPY scores the 50% seats of IISERs Institutions will be filled.
  • The remaining seats will be filled through SCB (State & Central Boards) which is based on IISER Aptitude Test 2018.
  • The conducting authority will not release any IISER cut-off list for admission.
  • The allotment of seat will be based on the candidate preferences, merit list, availability of seats.
  • Top candidates who qualify the KVPY & JEE Advanced exam will get admission into IISERs.

Syllabus

The syllabus of the IISER 2018 entrance exam will consist of Mathematics, Biology Physics and Chemistry subjects. The IISER 2018 Syllabus will comprises of Class 11th & 12th.

Physics:

Work, Energy and Power, Gravitation, Properties of bulk matter, Physical World and Measurement, Kinematics, Laws of Motion, Thermodynamics, Oscillations, Waves, Electrostatics, Current Electricity, Electromagnetic Waves, Optics, Dual Nature of Radiation and Matter Electromagnetic Induction, Alternating Current.

Mathematics:

Permutations and Combinations, Binomial Theorem, Sets, Relations and functions, Trigonometric Functions, Sequences and Series, Limits and Derivatives, Mathematical Reasoning, Continuity and Differentiability, Integrals, Applications of integrals, Statistics, Probability, Matrices, Determinants, Differential equations, Vectors, Three dimensional geometry.

Biology:

Structural organization in animals and plants, Diversity in the living world, Cell structure and function, Plant physiology, Human physiology, Biology and human welfare, Biotechnology and its application, Reproduction, Genetics and evolution, Ecology and environment.

Chemistry:

Chemical Bonding and Molecular Structure, States of Matter, Some Basic Concept of Chemistry, Structure of Atom, Thermodynamics, Redox Reactions, Hydrogen, Organic Chemistry, Hydrocarbons, Environmental Chemistry, The s-block Elements, The p-block Elements, The solid state, Solutions, Electrochemistry, Chemical Kinetics, Organic compounds containing nitrogens, Biomolecules, Polymers, Chemistry in everyday life, Surface chemistry, The d- & f-block elements.

IISER 2018: Important Points

  • The admission into IISERs will be based on IISER Aptitude Test, KVPY & JEE Advanced.
  • All IISERs admit students through a common application form.
  • You can apply through more than one stream, i.e. KVPY, JEE Advanced & SCB channel.
  • You may apply to IISERs through multiple channels provided you meet the eligibility criteria for each of the channels you want to apply through. It requires separate application and payment of application fee for each channel.
  • The application form will be filled through online mode from the 4th week of May 2018.
  • You will be asked to give your preferences in the online application form. The details of the application procedure will be announced on this website in due course.

  • You can apply if you do not have Biology/Mathematics at +2 level.
