Master of Fisheries Science is a Two-Year postgraduate Fisheries Science course. Fisheries Science is the academic discipline of managing and understanding fisheries. It is a multidisciplinary science, which draws on the disciplines of oceanography, marine biology, marine conservation, ecology, population dynamics, economics and management to attempt to provide an integrated picture of fisheries. During the course many topics are covered such as aquatic environment and biodiversity; environmental biotechnology; biotechnology for a cleaner environment and management and utilisation of wastewater, etc. The duration of M.F.Sc. is of two years and it may be provided by some institutes on correspondence basis as well. The course is very valuable for farming communities along with others. Mostly the degree holders start their own private business vis-a-vis other government and private jobs.
- The eligibility criteria for the course call for a science graduation or a B.Tech. degree holder candidates.
- And few of the institutes specify their eligibility criteria as the graduation subject must be zoology or fisheries science. However, it is not customary.
