OVERVIEW OF CHEMICAL ENGINEERING

THE BACHELOR OF TECHNOLOGY IN CHEMICAL ENGINEERING PROGRAM IS DESIGNED TO IMPART BOTH THEORETICAL AND EXPERIMENTAL KNOWLEDGE AND THE CURRICULUM INCLUDES

Chemical Engineering laboratories with sophisticated equipment.

A computer lab with softwares such as ASPEN, ANSYS (CFD), COMSOL.

Regular guest lectures by professionals.

IAESTE technical training program in which students visit countries like USA, Germany, Poland, Turkey, Spain, Denmark.

Chemical, petroleum and petrochemical industries; biochemical, biomedical and pharmaceuticals industries; computer aided process and control engineering; advanced materials design and manufacture; minerals processing and related industries; food processing, product design and development; environmental protection, management and safety; natural resource utilization and the energy sector, consultancy, research labs.

Organizations like Reliance, ABB, L&T, HUL, Jindal Steels, Vedanta, BASF, MCF, Michelin India, etc.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES:

1:Graduates will pursue careers in Chemical Engineering and related fields of engineering such as oil and gas, petrochemicals, biochemical, environmental,         material science and renewable energy.

2:Graduates will use modern engineering knowledge, skills and computational methods to identify, formulate and solve engineering and design related problems.

3:Graduates will demonstrate team work, leadership, ethical conduct and problem solving skills and provide appropriate solutions in global, social, environmental and economic context.

4:Graduates will be motivated to enroll for the post graduate courses and the continuing education programs, and demonstrate life-long independent learning.

PROGRAM OUTCOMES:

On successful completion of the chemical engineering program, the students will be able to

1:  Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering.

2:  Design and conduct the experiments, as well as to analyze and interpret data.

3:  Design a system, component, or process to meet the desired needs within the realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability, and sustainability.

4:   Function in multidisciplinary teams.

5:   Identify, formulate and solve engineering problems.

6:   Demonstrate professional and ethical responsibility.

7:   Communicate effectively.

8:   Equip themselves with the broad education necessary to understand the impact of engineering solutions in a global, economic, environmental, and societal context.

9:    Engage in life-long learning.

10:  Have the knowledge of contemporary issues.

11:  Learn the techniques, skills and modern engineering tools necessary for engineering practice.

ELIGIBILITY:

Duration: 4 years

Citizenship: Indian nationals.

Qualification: Pass in 10+2, A Level, IB, American 12th grade or equivalent with Physics, Mathematics and English as compulsory subjects along with Chemistry or Biotechnology or Biology or any technical vocational subjects as optional with a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Mathematics and any one of the optional subjects.

ADMISSIONS:

General Category: Admissions are done on the basis of rank in the All India Entrance Test  2017.

Foreign/NRI Category: Admissions are done on the basis of marks obtained in the qualifying examination.

Note: Candidates can apply both under General and Foreign/NRI categories. Change of category from Foreign/NRI to General after admission will not be entertained under any circumstances.
