Overview

The Madan Mohan Malaviya University of Technology (MMMUT) is a Technical Residential University located in the city of Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, India. Established in 1962, as Madan Mohan Malaviya Engineering College, the college became affiliated with Uttar Pradesh Technical University, Lucknow, in 2000. It was granted the status of “autonomous institute” by the University Grants Commission in 2011.The college became a university on 1 December 2013 by Act No. 22/2013 of U.P. Govt.[2] But University started functioning from 17 December 2013 after Prof(Dr.) Onkar Singh took over as the first Vice Chancellor of the University. It was also one of the 127 technical institutions in India which were the recipients of funding from World Bank’s International Development Association (IDA) in the phase one (2004-2009) of the Technical Engineering Educational Quality Improvement Project (TEQIP) – the first World Bank project in Higher education in India.

Madan Mohan Malaviya University of Technology (MMMUT) was established in the year 2013 after the reconstitution of Madan Mohan Malaviya Engineering College which was established in the year 1962. The University was established by the UP Government and UGC in the form of a non-affiliating, research and teaching University. All technical courses of the University are approved by the AICTE, MHRD, New Delhi and State Government of UP.

Campus:

The college is situated on the Gorakhpur- Deoria Road in Gorakhpur, the district of UP. The campus is 7 km away from the Gorakhpur City, 9 km from Gorakhpur Railway Station and 9 km from Gorakhpur Roadways Bus Stand. The campus is well accessible from the nearby cities by the roads and rail.

Programmes:

The MMMUT is offering the UG, PG and PhD programmes. The University offers 5 B.Tech and 5 M.Tech programmes in the field of engineering and technology and an MBA and an MCA degree programme. The University also offers doctoral programmes for the teaching faculty and research scholars in all departments. The main engineering branches are as the following:

  • Computer Science & Engineering
  • Civil Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Electronics & Communication Engineering

Students, Faculty & Staff:

The University offers total 674 seats for admission in all programmes. The University has around 90 faculty members and more than 30 technical staff.

Facilities:

The MMMUT has all needed and latest facilities and amenities. There is SBI branch and hospital inside the campus with a huge library, guest house, separated hostels for boys and girls, primary school, post office, canteen transport and one of the best IT-Resources Centre.

Activities:

The University has a women’s welfare centre, student counselling cell, student activity centre, professional societies and environmental awareness cell. The university conducts NCC and NSS campaign with various cultural and sports events.

Placement:

The University has established a training & placement cell which is having a rich corporate linkage for making the placement more reliable and approachable for the students. The cell invites numbers of companies and officials for campus interviews. The campus has a good placement record. TCS, Infosys, CSC, Birlasoft, Wipro Technologies, NIIT Technologies, Satyam, Siemens India Ltd, Tech Mahindra and Alstom Ltd. are the best recruiters of the university.
