Every year, many students from India, Nepal and other countries apply to get admission in the medical college in Bangladesh. Tairunnessa Memorial Medical College is one of the most preferred colleges in Bangladesh to pursue MBBS and other degrees in medicine. TMMC is a private medical school in Bangladesh which was established in the year 1995. The college was founded by M. Shamsul Hoque and was named after his mother, the late Tairunnessa, a social reformer.

Tairunnessa Memorial Medical Center was started as a small outpatient department at Konya, Gazipur District in the year 1995. After a few years, the center was turned into a hospital and research center named as TMMC Hospital. TMMC consists of a 500-bed hospital complex, a 9 storied college building and an administrative block and a ladies’ hostel.

The duration of MBBS program at Tairunnessa Memorial Medical College is five years. After the graduation the students are required to complete one year internship training. The degree is recognised by the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council. Tairunnessa Memorial Medical College is listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools, the World Health Organization (WHO) and now maintained as the Avicenna Directory for Medicine and also listed in the International Medical Education Directory (IMED).

Being recognized by IMED (International Medical Education Directory), the graduates from TMMC are eligible to apply for USMLE examination by ECFMG, USA for employment and for post-graduate training in the United States and Canada. The students, who complete their medical graduation from TMMC, can also apply for PLAB, AMC and NZREX examinations etc. Not only this, the graduates of TMMC are also eligible for limited registration with the General Medical Council of United Kingdom.

AT present, there are around 600 students, including students from Nepal and India studying MBBS or other medical courses at TMMC. The hospital has now expanded to 500-beds, and provides a 24-hour emergency service, with additional trauma center, EPI etc.

 The Campus

Tairunnessa Memorial Medical College has a large campus located almost 9 KM away from The Shahjala Internation Airport, at Konia of Gazipur City. The administrative offices and academic departments are located in the college campus surrounded by a pleasing fertile green environment. The buildings are well furnished and suitably equipped to accommodate classrooms, seminars, dissection hall, laboratories, museum, library, students’ common rooms and snack shop. The college campus is equipped with all the modern technology, equipments and infrastructure.

Student Life

The students pursuing their MBBS degree from Tairunnessa Memorial Medical College are provided with all the basic amenities and facilities at a very low cost. The quality of accommodation is very good. The hostels are furnished with all the facilities such as water supply, heating system, TV, internet access, air conditioning etc.

The campus of TMMC comprises of many buildings that include sports complex, a gym. A library, swimming pool and activity centre. The students are always encouraged to take part in various cultural activities. This helps them in understanding other cultures easily. The students of TMMC actively participate in presentations, seminars, conferences and projects

GOAL

The goal of the Tairunnessa Memorial Medical College is to provide an excellent broad-based education with a focus on professional development for the students to equip them with knowledge, skill ana attitude necessary not only to address the priority health problems of the community but also to acquire a firm basis for future training and studies. Students shall:

Acquire a KNOWLEDGE and UNDERST ANDING of health and its promotion, and of diseases; their prevention and management, in the context of whole individual and his or her place in the family and the society;
Acquire and become proficient in basic clinical SKILLS such as the ability to obtain a patients’ history, to undertake a comprehensive clinical examination and Interpret the findings and to demonstrate competence in the performance of basic technical procedures;
Acquire and demonstrate ATTITUDES necessary for the achievement of high standard of clinical practice in relation to care of individuals and populations; and to his or her own personal development.
