North Bengal Medical College (NBMC) is one of the oldest medical schools in Darjeeling that deals with the study of western medicine. It was founded in the year 1968, considered as the largest healthcare facility in the North region of West Bengal. Ever since its inception, the school has gained huge accolades for its excellent pedagogy in the field of medicine. Today, it is considered among the top medical institutions in India. The college is affiliated to West Bengal University of health Sciences, Kolkatta.

The college is known for under graduate degree of MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery). MBBS is five years full time program, which also includes internship course in last six months.
Admission to the MBBS course is through the highly competitive entrance test West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (Medical). 15% of the seats are filled through the All India Pre-Medical Test.
For postgraduate courses one has to clear the West Bengal Postgraduate Medical Entrance 0r the All India Postgraduate Medical Entrance examinations.

Monthly fee : Rs. 750/-
Hostel fees : Rs. 8/- per month (Rs. 12/- per month for Senior Boys Hostel)
Miscellaneous fees like annual library fees, magazine fees, students union fees, etc.
