NEET COUNSELLING 2017: Details

NEET Counselling 2017: The counselling of NEET 2017 for 15% all India Quota seats will be conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC of the Director General of Health Services (DGHS), in the month of June, 2017. The NEET 2017 Counselling will be conducted in online mode for all those candidates who will qualify for admissions under all India quota seats in government medical and dental colleges across India. The counselling of NEET 2017 will be conducted for allotment of around 3850 MBBS and BDS seats only. In order to participate in NEET Counselling 2017, qualified candidates will have to first register themselves for the counselling process during the stipulated period announce, schedule and allotment result etc.

NEET Counselling 2017 for 15% All India Quota seats

The counselling of NEET 2017 will be conducted for providing admissions to seats in government medical and dental colleges, which falls under the category of All India Quota seats. This must be noted that since, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Jammu and Kashmir does not participate in central pool of All India quota, no seats are reserved in aforesaid states under All India Quota. Hence, the states will conduct counselling for 100% states quota seats.

NEET 2017 State Counselling 

The counselling for admission under 85% state quota seats (except in Andhra Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Telangana) will be conducted by the state’s medical education department or an authority appointed by them. This must be noted that according to a Supreme Court’s directive, counselling for private, central and deemed universities will be done along with the government colleges, which means, state will conduct a common centralized counselling for admissions to all colleges located in it. Further, CBSE will conduct a state merit list for each state and Union territory (UT) and forward it to respective states.

The exam conducting authority, CBSE, will also a merit list for participating medical colleges and forward it to concerned medical colleges for counselling process. Allotment of MBBS and BDS seats in Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University (BHU) and Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi will be done by the respective medical colleges on the basis of NEET 2017 scores.

NEET 2017 Counselling will be conducted in online mode in two rounds only. To participate in counselling procedure of NEET 2017, candidates will have to register themselves with MCC in order to obtain a roll number and password. The number of MBBS and BDS seats available under 15% all India quota, whose counselling will be conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC).

Guidelines to follow in NEET Counselling 2017

 

Registration

During this step of registration, eligible candidates as declared by CBSE will have to register online. Candidates will have to click on ‘New registrations’ tab. Now, candidates will be required to enter their details such as roll number, all India rank and percentile score. After registration, candidates will be allotted a user name and password.

Exercising of Choices and Locking

During this step, candidates will have to select their choice of medical and dental college where they wish to take admission. During exercising their options, candidates can interchange their opted choices as many times as they want before locking them. Once the choice is locked by the candidates, they cannot be modified. Further, the locked choices will start appearing on candidate’s screen.

 

Round 1- Seat Allotment Process

During the seat allotment process, the seats to be allotted to candidates according to their choice of medical and dental college selected will be distributed.

 

Round 1- Counselling Result

After the seat allotment process, the result for round 1 of NEET 2017 counselling will be published online in a pdf format. The result will consist of state’s name, institute name, branch, category and total seats.

Reporting at alloted medical and dental college against 1st round of counselling

After the counselling result will be out, candidates will have to report at the medical and dental college within the stipulated time.

 

NEET 2017 Documents required during the final phase of counselling:

Candidates without the original documents will not be allowed to take admission under any circumstance. Candidates will have to mandatory bring the list of below mentioned documents for admission to the alloted medical and dental college:

  • Metric Certificate (for date of birth proof)
  • Class XII certificate
  • Passport size 10 photographs (same as affixed on application form)
  • Identity prrof
  • SC/ST proof certificate issued by the competent authority (if applicable)
  • OBC certificate issued by the competent authority (if applicable)
  • Physically Handicapped Certificate issued by the medical authority as mentioned in NEET 2017 prospectus (if applicable)
