Overview :

Bachelor of Vocational Education (B.V.E., BVE, or BVEd) is a specialized undergraduate bachelor’s degree which qualifies the graduate as a vocational teacher in public schools or trainer for private companies. Some universities offer a Bachelor of Vocational Education and Training, or a Bachelor of Career and Technical Education degree, which are basically equivalent to a BVE. Further, many universities have specific vocational education bachelor’s degrees to prepare agricultural, business, computer, health occupations, marketing, and industrial arts teachers as well as degrees for Adult and Continuing Education.

Vocational, or skills-based, education is becoming more and more significant in today’s perspective as industry expecting new employees to have all the practical skills they need to start work. B.Voc. the course is introduced by University Grants Commission with the objective to impart adequate knowledge and skills for employment and entrepreneurship to graduates of the higher education system

6 Semesters (3 years), this three-year full-time programme is divided into six semesters, each of 15 weeks including assessment. In addition, all students are expected to undergo industrial training/ project work for 4-8 weeks every semester that may continue partly during summer/ winter breaks. All students should undergo bridge course program of 180 hrs duration in each semester for first two semesters along with level 5 regular courses. The credits earned are of qualifying nature and should be completed within four semesters (2 years) for obtaining Diploma/Advanced Diploma/ B.Voc Degree, as a pre-requisite. A certificate to this effect shall be issued by the Principal/Director of affiliated Institutes to be submitted to COE. NSQF LEVEL-IV certification may be done through the respective agencies involved. Efforts are on to sensitize various agencies involved such as industry, government agencies, other universities and stakeholders, the students to understand the changed paradigm and the nomenclature called B.Voc. A student who earns a B.Voc degree is eligible to appear for national level tests as is done in case any other degree holder. Questions such as equivalence with B.Tech programs etc. does not arise, however, the student is allowed lateral entry to B.Tech analogous programme after completing the 5th level of NSQF i.e., earning a Diploma. Similarly, a student finishing his Diploma can enter laterally into the 6th level of NSQF. Efforts will be made to start M.Voc. programmes in due course of time.

Eligibility for the admission to B.Voc Course:

• 12th Pass with 50% with Science Stream (PCM) for Technical Trades,
• 12th Pass with 50% with any stream for Applied Arts and Interior Design

or

• 10+ITI Students (in analogous trades)

The Age limit: 16 years to 45 years.
